Our little DJ

Ella knows the button to hop from one song to the next and back and forward and back and forward again and again and again very well! Luckily sometimes there are power cuts in Tanzania!

Malaykas second visit to Kimweri

Malayka and Elisabeth have been visiting us again, and Francesca and Katharina both got two precious hours off to take care of themselves! Wonderful and to be repeated!

Papa is back!!!

After 78 days of separation, H4 is reunited! Obviously Ella does not leave Papa's side and assists in all his activities, from bycicly mechanics to chefing! Also, since Papa is back, little Ella sleeps through the nigths!

The small and the big ladies in the Bean

I might be wrong, but it seemed to me that this week end in the Bean high above the Indian Ocean was mainly about eating, the ladies prepared food all the time and then sat on the table chatting and drinking coffee for ever - but I did not so much mind as long as I was allowed to taste a bit of everything, including chocolate muffin with Debora! It was very tasty, and much better than baby food.

Then this turtle visited us, it is said to be more than 50 years old, and it wanted to eat as well! So I gave her some salad, and I would also have wanted to pull her leg, as I do with Castor, but Mama did not like it, because there were ticks sitting on her! Maybe this was right, because the next day I had bed bug bites on my belly! They were itching! I would not have wanted tick bites as well!

Then we went to the beach, and I had to stay in the shady cave while the ladies went for bikini fashion shows and long chats in the water! I did not like this, but at least they had shifts in looking after me, and I could build my first sand castles!

Also I had to taste some sand - it was awful, but now I know!

And then Mama left me all alone on the beach between the rocks, because she wanted to take pictures of this fishing net! I managed well, as you can see, Papa, and had come some fishermen to ask me what I was doing, I would have told him that this is not his business!

However the very best thing of this week end was flying with Ulrike, as everybody easily can see! Papa we have to do a lot more of this, I love it!

Reading with Ulrike was not too bad either, but as you can see...

... I soon had other things in my mind again!

How to descend from bed

Well, first I take a little drink to give me courage, and you obviously see, I can separate good from very good...(by the way Mama thought I should take milk to give me strength, but this I have a lot already)
Then I throw the small pillow off the bed...
... and dive on it!
Yes, here we are, and now it is easy...
... just down the final little step. Any body said it is difficult? Not for a little big girl as me! And then we do it all over again!

Stair climbing in pairs!

Come on Malayka, lets go for stair climbing, it is really good for coordination and muscle training, and that is what it is all about at the moment in our life, isn't it?

I show you, it is really not difficult, just up the arms first and then a knee and then the whole body!

Great Malayka, only one step left!
Oh, I see, there is no space left for you, Malayka! Just wait a second...

...and I move Castor a little bit away!

And here they are the proud stair case climbing winners Malayka and Ella!

And when it all was over, Ella went for it again, but this time fast track, so no cloth could be worn for this!

Happy Birthday to you Grandma Janet!

Dear Grandma Janet!
Here you can see me exercising to sing "Happy Birthday to you!" I am not yet quite there, but tomorrow on your birthday I will be brillant! Mama is singing to me every evening when I have to go to sleep, and it really works quite well! So I hope my birthday song will be good for you, too! Wishing you a beautiful spring day and all the very best for the next year to come. I wish you most that we can meet again, because I have grown and changed a hell of a lot since you visited us in Köniz last year!
Yours
Ella

Ella Tili Party Girl on Kempinski's Jetty!

These ladies wanted me to join their party, but as you can see, I was not so sure about this. They then proceeded to play "hiding" with me, which I liked a lot, until their boyfriends appeared, and said "enough is enough", or otherwise their girls would develop too much of an appetite for a baby like me! I cannot understand these men - what is there better than having a little girl like me, Papa?

Ella Tili's Best 23rd of March 2008

Playing at Kempinski

Papa, see for this exercise I wore shoes for the first time, and I did not fall down!
I then proceeded to study all the Kempinski documents, but they were real crap!
Brown bread rolls however I liked a lot!
And even better the baby level mirror...
... and the outdoor shower! There I could have stayed for ever!

Nonna's life west on one of the noblest beaches of Zanzibar - Nonna's Schwimmweste am Nobelstrand von Zanzibar

After I had a good drink...
Nachdem ich getrunken hatte...

and a long sleep...

und gut geschlafen...

I agreed to venture out into the Indian Ocean well wrapped into Nonna's lifewest...

bin ich mit Mama in den Indischen Ozean gesprungen, sicher in Nonna's Schwimmweste eingepackt...

...and as you can see it made me very happy!

...und war sehr glücklich!

However, the real test for the life west seemed to come a little later, when our speed boat had an engine failure on the way back to Dar es Salaam, and we started to turn in circles. Mama immediately pulled out my life west, and I was sure that if worse had come to worse, I would hav been safe in the life west! Some Zanzibari mothers were laughing at Mama, but I wonder if they even know how to swim!
